Blaauwberg – the gateway to the West Coast of South Africa

The wide sweep of Table Bay north of the city will take the visitor through the residential suburb of Milnerton, past the Rietvlei wetlands and onto Table View, Parklands, Bloubergrant and Bloubergstrand. The area is collectively known as Blaauwberg.

	Bloubergstrand/ Big Bay & Table View Stands out as a surfer's paradise hosting international surfing and windsurfing competitions. Small Bay is suitable for sunbathers and families. The beaches along the coastline are known to be popular in summer with kite surfers on the perfect windy days. For those who love shopping many crafters have stalls with African ornaments, gifts and small Furnishing items. A Rubber duck & Jet Ski launching area attract many in the area.
	Bayside Shopping Centre is convenient for all shopping and grocery requirements. Across from the Pick N Pay shopping centre both located in Blaauwberg Road. Bayside has a cinema house and gaming arcade with many Surf & Athletic shops, clothing stores and food stalls.
	The newest centres in the area include that of West Port Centre in West Beach, West Coast Village in the Sunningdale Area and The Piazza Shopping Centre located in the Parklands suburb.
	Many Local restaurants include Coffee Bistro's, Italian, Greek and Thai and well known trade names like "Primi Piatti" and the "Ocean Basket" and "News Cafe". Upmarket restaurants include the names of "On The Rocks", "Blouberg Café", "Dales Place" and "The Grill & Butcher".
	Flamingo Vlei caters for all bird watchers & nature lovers as the area is a haven for many bird species. SANCOB also found on the waters edge, has a large facility for injured and nursed penguins and birds. The Vlei also allows for water sports like sailing, wind surfing and skiing.
	Big Bay Is largely populated with security accessed complexes and will boast in the future a Waterfront facility and exclusive residential Estates. "Seaside Village" has just recently opened its doors with a mixture of apartments and shopping facilities.
	Dolphin Beach Known to have many occupants and hotel guests spotting whales & dolphins from their balconies, as they come in off the Coast. This hotel resort is part of the Protea group and also hosts one the hottest Sushi bars and Seafood Restaurant "The Blowfish"
	Melkbosstrand/ Atlantic Beach Huge stretches of nature reserve with beautiful sandy beaches which stretch miles out towards the West Coast in the distance. The Area is known for its most welcoming neighbours and ever expanding Golf Estate Village which has an abundant amount of wild life with a superior Golf Course that attracts many international stars.
	Milnerton, Lagoon Beach Milnerton Aquatic Club caters for canoeing, power boating, skiing facilities and prawning. The Lagoon is developing to an up and coming Hotel and Luxury Apartment block with shops and restaurant stores as well but known to many for paddle boats and skiing. Milnerton also has a private medical hospital known in thae area as Milnerton Medi- Clinic and located opposite The Royal Ascot Development on Race course Road, Milnerton.
	Woodbridge Island catering as a security Estate known for its up market homes, historical Light House and Restaurants is surrounded by beautiful Gardens and is completely surrounded by water.
	Canal Walk - With over 400 international shops, Canal Walk offers the most comprehensive shopping experience in Africa. Hosting the MTN ScienCentre, it is the first world-class interactive science centre in the country with more than 200 interactive exhibits. Century City has also become on of Cape Towns hot and prospective project areas. Aimed at developing up market and security lifestyle Apartment blocks and cluster villages this area is to become one of the hottest new areas adjacent to The V&A Waterfront and Cape Town International Convention Centre.
	Royal Ascot The new kid on the block has grown immensely within a short period of time and offers a stylish and are all security accessed. "The Paddocks" shopping complex offers a variety of stores which include "Cape Town Fish Market", "Mugg & Bean", "Spar" and "Woolworths".
	Sunset Beach & Sunset Links Part of Windsurfer territory, this up market area has clean and sandy beaches with many shells, lovely stones and tastefully decored B&B's and is also land marked today for having a Large Carrier Ship stuck on its beach not so long ago.
	Having a well recognised Golf Estate which comes to completion in the near future this area hosts many magnificent homes and luxury villas, many with outstanding views of the Atlantic Ocean, Table Mountain and Blaauwberg Beaches. Played by many visitors and residents the Golf Course is constantly maintained with scenic views along the beach front and vlei and water lagoon.
	Parklands/ Sunningdale Being known for its investments opportunities this area carries out large potential in the near future as many New Private Schools, Shopping Centres, Medical Practises are establishing itself in the area. The Large shopping centres include West Coast Village which has many tastefully decored stores and The Piazza centre with a Super SPAR, travel agent, coffee shops and a play pen for kids and not forgetting the Large Hardware stockists that surround both ends of the suburb. A medical facility "Parklands Intercare" has been completed in the area located walking distance to The Piazza centre.
