2010 Host Cities - Durban Soccer World Cup

Durban, South Africa’s third-largest city in area, is an exciting hub around a busy harbour on the edge of the warm Indian Ocean.
The city is well-known for its pleasant climate and welcoming beaches. It also boasts top sporting facilities, world-class resorts and nature reserves. It has a large and diversified economy with strong manufacturing, tourism, transportation, finance and government sectors. Its coastal location and large port gives it comparative advantage over many other centres in South Africa for export-related industry.
Its port is the busiest in South Africa, as well as the busiest container port in the southern hemisphere.
Durban, the largest city in KwaZulu-Natal, forms part of the metropolitan municipality of eThekwini.
Six games and one semi final played in a masterpiece of architecture on South Africa's playground.
Durban, found in the KwaZulu Natal Province in the north east of South Africa, was the host for the Preliminary Draw that was held on the 25 November 2007.
The draw determined which teams will play against each other in the epic 2010 Soccer World Cup.
Durban has hosted many international events in the past including the quarter and semi final games in the CAF African Cup of Nations as well as the South Africa vs. England in 2003 which helped to launch the bid for South Africa to host the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
The uniquely designed Durban soccer stadium will have two large archways that will arc a hundred meters above the stadium.
The soccer stadium is set to have a seating capacity of 70,000 supporters, is well under way and will be completed in October 2009.
