The Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour
8 March 2009 starting in the City Centre and finishing at the Green Point Stadium
The largest cycling event in the world will take place on Sunday 8 March and this year local entries have topped the 35 000 level.In 2007 over 2000 international cyclists took part in this premier cycling event and many more are expected in the Mother City this year. The 108 km route passes through some of the most magnificent scenery on offer in the Cape including the area around Cape Point and Scarborough and the world renowned Chapman's Peak Drive.The inaugural race took place in 1978 and 525 entrants took part, since then it has grown into the powerhouse of international cycling competitions. Over 2500 volunteers assist with this global event and all proceeds are donated to charity.

ABSA Cape Epic
Saturday, 21 March 2009 to Saturday, 28 March 2009 in the Cape Overberg
It starts in the beautiful Garden Route town of Knysna and finishes nine days later in style at the grand Lourensford Wine Estate, just outside Cape Town.
The route changes every year, and leads aspiring amateur and professional mountain bikers from around the world through approximately 900 kilometres of the unspoilt nature of the Western Cape and up approximately 16 000m of climbing over some of the most magnificent passes in South Africa.
Wellington Harvest Festival 21 – 22 March 2009
During this weekend the people of Wellington invite guests from all the country to come and experience Wellington. Food, wine, sporting activities and loads of entertainment. Come and join in the fun and experience Wellington.
Visitors are required to purchase an access pass at their first port of call or Wellington Tourism Office, serving as registration to the weekend.

The Kirstenbosch summer concerts, which run until April, have become synonymous with every Cape Town summer, and have a special feel to them mainly due to the breathtaking setting.
