Rocking the Daisies Music Festival
Dates to be confirmed (Saturday, 03 October 2009 to Monday, 05 October 2009) in Darling
Following the outstanding response from approximately 5 000 visitors to the second Rocking the Daisies music festival in 2007, this year promises even more. Taking place at Cloof Wine Estate near Darling, there will be great food and entertainment and also a really important message: party hard, tread lightly.
There's a safe and fully functional camping area, with food stalls, ablutions etc. With between 1500 and 3000 people likely to attend, organisers hope to put the festival on the map as an annual event. Proceeds of the festival will go to an anti-drink driving campaign, SADD (South Africans Against Drunk Driving).Tickets are available at the gates for those coming from out of Cape Town but booking in advance is always a good idea
Prince Albert mini Oktoberfest
Dates to be confirmed (Sunday, 18 October 2009) in Prince Albert
Many Germans visit Prince Albert and a "mini-Oktoberfest" was first held in October 2002. Visitors enjoyed an evening of dancing and singing 'volksliede'. Music was provided by local band The Killiebeentjie Orkes, who are great at umpa-pa-pa. Champagne cocktails, draft beer, eisbein and sausage were served. This is now an annual event which has expanded to include a braai and vegetarian dishes. Raffle tickets give you the opportunity to win prizes valued up to R10 000.
