West Coast
Stretching over 400kms south to north, one has the opportunity to experience everything. From the Langebaan Lagoon, travel through the magnificent coastal region interspersed with quaint fishing villages, full of marine and bird life to the dramatic back drop of mountain ranges in the interior, with an abundance of citrus farms, wheat fields and wine estates. Blooming wild flowers and the occasional visit of a whale or dolphin make a visit to the West Coast a very memorable experience!

Langebaan
Langebaan is an idyllic seaside town on the South African West Coast and is located at the edge of the tranquil Langebaan lagoon, just over 100 kms North of Cape Town. Founded in 1922, this historical town was once a whaling station and is now a mecca for nature-lovers and water sport enthusiasts. The lagoon is part of a protected area, the West Coast National Park, and is also excellent for all kinds of water sport. A world-renowned birding spot with migratory birds from as far as Russia stopping here annually, the Park is also a favourite destination with nature lovers and adventure seekers alike. During the flower season (July – September) the landscape is transformed into a giant garden as the area explodes into a riot of colours when the wild flowers bloom. During winter and early spring one might catch sight of a Southern Right Whale in the lagoon where they return to calve each year. |
Darling
1 hour from Cape Town, along the R27 you will reach the pretty town of Darling. Filled with charming victorian-style homes and ancient trees, the town still has a traditional brass band which is often used in different processions. Many artists live in the town and the many beautiful galleries display the local talent. Surrounding wine farms offer regular tasting's and the annual flower festival in September shows that this area is Cape hospitality at its best! |
Clanwilliam
A short drive north-east, through the Cederberg Mountains to reach Clanwilliam, heart of the Rooibos Tea industry. This small town is well known by outdoor enthusiasts throughout the country as the surrounding areas offer fantastic nature hikes, and the dam is synonymous with all types of water sports, in particular water-skiing. Clanwilliam is also popular for its "Veldskoene" (leather shoes). A visit to the factory is worthwhile, and shoes can be bought from them in any size and colour. |
Lamberts Bay
Lamberts Bay owes its origin to humble beginnings as a fishing village. This seaside town boasts superb spots for crayfish diving and there are a couple of snoek runs each year. The town is also filled with incredible bird life and the internationally acclaimed Bird Island attracts tourists from all over the world. Rugged sand dunes offer adrenaline junkies the opportunity to test their 4x4 skills and the many beaches offer one the opportunity to relax, unwind and take in the unsurpassed beauty of this attractive coastline! |

| Endemic to the West Coast, Heaviside Dolphins grow to only 1.8 metres in length. They have cone shaped heads and a triangular-shaped dorsal fin. |
